I went to the engagement party of my friends, Jasper & Veronica today. We were not allowed to go to the actual engagement ceremony because we are also having our engagement ceremony soon (this Saturday!). In Chinese customs it is not advisable for other engaged couples to attend the ceremony to prevent the "tug-of-war" of good luck. We do have quite a bit of weird customs & traditions that we need to follow. I'll let you in on those next week after my engagement ceremony. ;)

ReplyDeletethanks girls! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd say it's a very pretty dress too! (besides the gorgeous shoes). Still, I raised my eyebrows when reading that you couldn't assist to the actual ceremony! It's an interesting tradition...it actually works?
ReplyDeletekpriss: Well, my friend told me about her engaged friend who were attended the engagement ceremony of her other friend. and both of them (the engaged girls) got into a minor car accident. I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence or something but I guess it is better to be safe than sorry. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing! It sure is better to prevent! I thought it was like something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue thing, you see.. Completely innocent. Then again, maybe it's the power of respected tradition that works like that for you! Impressive, I must say, in terms of respect and effects also!
ReplyDeletekpriss: true true. it's better to follow traditions though sometimes there are stuff that are plain silly but you must respect it.
